Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was raised by an ethnically mixed family. Madekwe is English as well as her father is Nigerian. Her family was raised in a south London council estate and attended The Brit School at age fourteen. In London she attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in which her acting diploma was awarded. In her time at the school, she performed in numerous stage plays, such as King Henry V's Princess Katherine as well as Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe started her acting career through a short film called Storm Damage. Since then, she's been making appearances as a guest for Teachers, Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's first film of debut was that of the Woody Allen 2007 movie Cassandra's Dream. She starred with Colin Farrell & Ewan MacGregor. In the following year she was cast as Elisha (a BBC Three drama-pilot) in West 10 LDN. Additionally she was a part of Trexx as Ollie as well as six episodes of Flipside. The ITV2 series Secret Diary of a Call Girl saw her in 2008 as Bambi. Madekwe appeared in the comedic How to Lose Friends and alienate others (2008). Her credits in the theatre are Little Sweet Thing (by Roy Williams) and Flight Path (by David Watson).
Madekwe's US debut came in 2009 with The thriller The Beautiful Life. The series aired only two episodes before it was removed from The CW. The actress was selected in February 2011, as Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. Madekwe's departure from the series was officially announced in May of 2013. After two years as the main character she appeared as a guest in the first episode of season three. The actress portrayed Tituba in the television series Salem from 2014 until 2016. Her long-time friend, Iddo, married Madekwe in June 2012. They both appeared on Secret Diary of a Call Girl. They have also appeared as a couple in Salem.
Ashley Leggat, an actress nominated twice for the Gemini Award, hails from the large Hamilton family. Four of her older brothers were also in the family including twins Todd & Bram, Brett & Rob. Ashley's family, which is all sportsmen, played in the summer months and play hockey during winter. Ashley was never a walker, she did dance, so at the age of two and a half she started Baby Ballet -and she fell in love. Ashley began to be a dancer following this. Ashley was a competitor in tap, jazz and ballet in high divisions. She was the top soloist in major competitions such as International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance, were all awarded to Ashley.
