Jeanne Marie Tripplehorn is an American TV and film actress. A gifted thespian she is active in the professional world for her early teens for the last 27 years. She began her career in the year 1990 with an Off-Broadway production of The Big Funk, by John Patrick Shanley. She was then cast for her first television role, The Perfect Tribute. She got her first role as a supporting character in the movie Basic Instinct. This marked her first major success in her career. It was in the movie The Firm however that she was chosen as the female lead for the first time. She was cast in the film alongside actors like Tom Cruise and Gene Hackman. In the 1990s, Gwyneth worked with Hugh Grant on Mickey Blue Eyes and Julie Andrews for Relative Values. In recent times, she played Dr. Alex Blake (a police procedural-crime drama) in Criminal Minds.

When she was a kid she started playing golf and in 2007, at age 12, became the first woman in history to qualify for the US Women's Open. In 2007, she was not the winner of the US Women's Open, but won the Aldila Junior Classic to be the second. The youngest American Junior Golf Association member to win this championship, she also won the Westfield Junior PGA Championship in the same year.
